Rainy weekends

Yesterday I mostly finished my current project, dress #5 from the April 2007 edition of KnipMode (the John Galliano knockoff), but I lost my enthusiasm when it came to hemming it, seeing as how it’s been rainy and cold for the past week and this is a sleeveless summer dress. Ho hum. I’ll finish the hem at some point this week and brave the goosebumps for a photo shoot.

Then I moved on to a few baby gifts, making two more baby changing mats. One is for a friend who checks the site, so I don’t want to spoil the surprise by posting photos here, but she knows she’s getting one, as she specifically requested I maker her one after looking at similar mats in stores and finding them all to have pockets too puny for her eco-friendly diapers! Apparently I’m filling a hole in the market for diaper-storing poo towels…

But back to the rain – it’s inspired me to finally make use of an IKEA shower curtain I bought way back when I got the pillowcases for the famous skirt. So a shower curtain, an old bedsheet (compliments of our very own floating hotel linen room), and this Burda WOF 60s dress are about to become the perfect dress for spring showers! The pieces are all cut out and I’ve basted the lining pieces on, so now I’ve just got to either buy some hot pink piping or make my own…
