A few wedding colours

If you recall, my two bridesmaids, Pip and Gez, had already agreed on the dress pattern they wanted, BWOF 09/2008 #132, the Gant Exclusive Design dress.

But neither were too excited by the silk jersey colour choices I brought home last time I was at Goldhawk Road, so I was expecting Saturday’s fabric-and-shoes excursion to take a while…

…but no! Both found the colours they loved within five feet of walking in the first shop! Classic Textiles had clearly restocked in the last month! Woohoo!

Gez fell in love with this silver silk jersey (which we bought the last of, bwahaha), choosing peach silk charmeuse (satin) for her dress’s “cummerbund”:

And Pip immediately went for the deep plum silk jersey, with silk charmeuse to match (the lucky cow even found perfectly matching shoes at Westfield!!).

Now I’ve just got to get some beige nylon tricot to line the dresses and I’m ready to roll! Well, on theirs, anyway. 🙂

The only other fabrics I bought at Goldhawk Road were 1/2 metre of black lycra jersey for some accent banding (yawn) and a bunch of cotton twill to make up lots of boat curtains on Sunday. And I was under orders to buy fabric for the latter!

(You can see photos of all the boat curtains made with the above fabric over here)

Good thing I already finished and photographed my 30th birthday dress by that point, or I’d be gnawing at the bit, having to do so much boring sewing on a weekend. But it’s not as if you can go out and buy porthole curtains, so c’est la vie!

Check back on Wednesday for my full birthday dress photoshoot, with more to follow next week after the party!
