Even though I’ve shown you daylight details of the blouse, the pleather trousers, and the bondage necklace I made in tribute to the Lestatc looks seen in the teasers for the upcoming The Vampire Lestat show, I really wanted to do some fun, styled nighttime photos too!
A friend and I did a night shoot when I sewed a full Wolfkiller cloak last fall, and it was so much fun! Plus I ended up loving the night photos even more than the day ones, and it made me wish I’d done a night shoot for the Claudia tribute outfit I sewed in 2023 (maybe I will when I can fit back into it again!)
So my friend Ann and I did my hair and makeup (complete with blue contact lenses and gold hair spray you can barely see!) and traipsed around the neighbourhood one evening…
The first few were channelling his rockstar persona (and unlike him, we had to be on the look out for “wardrobe malfunctions”!)…
…then I started generally trying to vibe with Lestat’s chaotic energy, which I think I particularly nailed on the last one above!
Then I wanted to try a few of him reacting to reading Louis and Daniel’s book! Thankfully someone had already created a downloadable pdf of the in-universe cover to Interview with the Vampire, so I only needed to size it up a bit to fit my first edition hardback.
Ann was giving me prompts throughout, so we got the fun dichotomy of him reading a scathing lie vs a flattering truth! 😂
I call this one “It never fucking happened”! (If you’ve seen the new teaser trailer then you get the reference!).
And finally, I posed a few times with my own (again, hardback 1st edition) copy of The Vampire Lestat, since I was videoing a blurb for a fan project anyway. Between this and my holding it during the Wolfkiller cloak shoot, I reckon I could give showrunner Rolin (who carries around his tattered paperback copy everywhere) a run for his money…
Fun fact: I also made the ring you see on my middle finger! I wasn’t kidding when I said I used to make a lot of jewellery in my younger days, though this one was in a jewellery making art class in high school, complete with soldering and filing and breaking a million tiny saw blades.
