A pale floral lingerie set

//

Are we sensing a theme yet with my posts lately?? 😂

Carrying on with my recent lingerie sewing spree, after my success with the New Craft House Wren Bra in fuchsia and then olive mesh, I thought I’d make a set using fabrics and mesh from my embarrassingly large lingerie sewing stash.

When I was determining what I needed to buy for the fuchsia and olive sets, I realised that I had a lot of white, pink, and grey notions. Furthermore, they all tied together nicely with a pale pink and monochrome rose printed satin I had. I think this might’ve even been free in a bag of scraps that Kellie at Sewing Chest sent to me years ago? It’s a thin lingerie weight with only a small amount of width wise stretch and no lengthwise stretch, in pale pink with printed monochrome roses and a lovely satin sheen.

Because of that lack of stretch, I didn’t want it to be too tight around the body, so I paired it with a rose/beige stretch mesh from my stash for the back pieces and the inner front pieces of the bra.

I bought more white 1cm (finished width) FOE from eBay, and pale pink plush underband elastic from New Craft House, but otherwise I had everything else already in my stash.

Once again, I’m stupidly pleased with the fit of this bra, even though I had to guesstimate a bit with the various stretches of the fabrics involved. I’ve got nothing further to say about sewing the Wren Bra here that I haven’t already said in the fuchsia and olive posts, so I’ll skip to the matching panties.

The Evie La Luve “Chloe Thong” (Strappy Style) was one of my favourite patterns pre-Long Covid that I sewed a few times (but maybe didn’t blog??). It instantly came to mind here because the sides are just strap elastic, so it doesn’t matter if your main fabric is stretchy or rigid as there’s very little width to it anyway.

My pre-Long Covid size was already the max – XXL(!!) so I had no choice but to make that size again. I remembered the straps being a bit on the shorter side on my older pairs, so to account for my larger girth now, I just cut the straps at 50/55cm instead of the 40/44cm in the pattern for size XXL. There’s already sliders on the straps which mean I can adjust them looser or tighter as I continue to lose weight.

I realised midway through that I didn’t have enough 1cm white strap elastic for the bra and the panties (in total the set needs about 3m), so I had to rush order some from eBay to complete this set.

I don’t often go for florals, either in my casual sewing or lingerie, but I think this set is really pretty! And the raciness of the thong design kinda cuts the sweetness from being too cloying, if you don’t mind a good metaphor…

I’ve still got one more set to show you before I hang up my lingerie sewing for another year, too…
