Jeepers creepers!

I’ve finally finished the 1930s Day Dress and debuted it at The Big Chill music festival last weekend. My boyfriend is rather fond of crisp linen suits and his beloved authentic Panama hat, so I thought we’d strike the perfect couple pose strolling around the Malvern Hills…

I absolutely love the flounce sleeves – they feel and look gorgeous and are so feminine, the nipped-in waist reminds me that I now have one (I lost 4.5 inches off my waist since March!), the pockets are just sooo cute, and even the collars make me feel like every day is an occasion.

I made the dress pretty much exactly as specified by Folkwear’s 1930s Day Dress pattern, except I added a lining and self-belt, and took in the bodice side seams to correct for a strange curved armscye. I also made a handbag out of the same fabric using Simplicity 5876 (1930s evening gown I’ve already shown you). I bought white cotton gloves to wear with it, though I kept forgetting them in my tent at the festival, so they ended up not getting worn at all in my photos.
