Project Catwalk

//

No, this has nothing to do with the tv show. But I am going to a catwalk show at London Fashion Week tomorrow morning! It all transpired last weekend on our mooring’s First Annual Boat Crawl and BBQ… One of my neighbours is quite big in the fashion industry, and as I was showing her around our boat and my sewing room, she asked which shows I was going to. To which a I replied “Shows?” “You know – Fashion Week, which shows are you going to?” And at this point I admitted I’d never been to a catwalk show, and she was so flabbergasted she promised then and there to get me on this list.

So I’m off to Fashion Week tomorrow, which I’m stupidly excited for, but then after the initial elation curbs away, the big question looms – What to wear??

I’d already decided I wanted to wear my BurdaStyle skirt but I wanted a new top to go with it, and I had my heart set on using some beautifully draping lavender jersey from my stash. Plan A was to make Hot Patterns’ Butterfly cowl top, but once I laid out the tissue, I realised I was laughably short on fabric. So for Plan B, I thought I’d try it without the sleeves. No dice. So onto Plan C, where I traced then modified a RTW top and added long sleeves.

After an hour of sewing last night, the lavender cowl top has emerged!

I’m planning on adding a Johnny Loves Rosie feather pin (which I adore) to the shoulder, but shoes and bag are yet to be determined…

I promise to report back on the catwalk show later (though with out boatwarming pirate party happening tomorrow night, it may be a while before I recover!).
