Wolf and bat plushies

Before I delve into my BIG sewing plans for Fall, I've got to catch you up on some smaller items I sewed over the summer, including two more plushies. No, I still don't know any children... 🙃

Wolf:

First up is an adorable little wolf I made using this free pattern by CholyKnight. I just found it after some googling, and tbh this site has SO many free patterns available that I might go back to some others later (eyeing up the Ghibli ones...).

First up is an adorable little wolf I made using this free pattern by CholyKnight. I just found it after some googling, and tbh this site has SO many free patterns available that I might go back to some others later (eyeing up the Ghibli ones…).

This pattern used embroidery to make the paw pads, eyes, and nose/mouth but I opted instead to use safety toy eyes & nose. I was going to just omit the paw pads altogether (like I did the mouth) but then I realised I could use my Silhouette machine! So I cut out the paw pads in some leftover pink flock I had lying around from my black underwear set, and I love how it looks.

I bought most of the supplies for this from Cello Express since they have a ton of toy and plushie making supplies, including the grey and white toy fur. I also bought the blue glitter eyes, pink nose and squeaker from them!

Yes, I put a squeaker in him!! (Yes, I am easily amused)

The construction went really quickly on the machine, but there’s quite a bit of attaching of body parts by hand – not just the head, but also the tail and back feet!

I think it’s such an unusual pose for a plush toy to be splooting on its stomach though and since I got the eyes slightly off centre he’s got a kind of “derp” look that makes him even cuter, and that’s even before he squeaks!!

Another bat!

I also sewed one last bat plushie – by request from a friend who was over from Oz! I used the same pattern as before (BeeZeeArts) at 150% scale, using the same black sweatshirting scraps in reverse so the fleece is on the outside.

She requested orange eyes and the little bat print cotton fabric I used on my jeans pocket lining, so who am I to deny her! I can sew these in my sleep by this point, so I didn’t even need to look at the instructions, which is nice.

I think he turned out really cute, and he had no problems flying home to Australia with her! (No sore wings at all…)
