Patrones 290

//

I’m kinda going backwards here, since I already reviewed Patrones 292, but Kim ended up with a spare copy of this issue so I got a surprise in my happy postbox!! Thanks, Kim!

Overall, this issue was more summery than 292 despite coming out earlier in the year, with tons of shorts (which I do not wear), but these tops worn with them were pretty cool. The white one uses a knit on top, and wovens for the two lower panels. What a great idea for lovely flowing silks or chiffons…

I love the bubble, cropped sleeves on this jacket…

Trousers (Pants) Special! OMFG! There’s slim trousers galore, some cool seamed ones, some Navy buttoned ones, plus bermudas and capris (yawn yawn)

I love that this Trouser Special is so wearable. Nuts to the big, baggy, pleated styles and drop-crotches found elsewhere. Hallelujah, Patrones! I have a feeling I’m going to refer back to these trouser patterns again and again…

The top on the left is really cool when you look at the pattern pieces, because it’s made like a bandeau top in the front but with an outer layer that extends up into the shoulder seams. So it’s kinda like a top-within-a-top!

The Plus section in this issue is MUCH larger than normal (in terms of patterns, not, err pattern sizes!). There’s something like ten patterns here when they’re normally four or five. And some of these are really cool designs, like this asymmetrical jeanskirt…

…this silk dress…

…and this tie-front woven dress, which (of course) I love!

And if you weren’t impressed by my picks, then perhaps the stuff The Curious Kiwi picked out from her copy will excite you… (we actually only overlapped on two things!)

(My Beignet skirt is going well, but not much got done on it while I was away camping all weekend!)
