Hurrah, my latest issue of my KnipMode subscription has arrived, and Plus-sized ladies, you have got to seek this one out because there’s an expanded Plus section with 12(!) patterns! OMG! And KnipMode actually understand Plus bodies and what flatters them. And they use actual Plus-sized models!
I think these Plus jeans are just fantastic, with that great seaming I’ve come to love from Knip’s trousers patterns. The knit top with the drape is also making me pretty jealous, and the dress variation of the same pattern just looks so flattering and easy to wear:
Also from the Plus feature there’s a cardie (that I think looks better on her than in the tech drawing), the same knit top as above, and a really excellent curved seam skirt (with no side seams):
In the regular sized rest of the magazine, I think this panel blouse would be a great way to showcase some really special, expensive fabrics. How lovely in a silk voile?
We had a sneak preview of this jacket in the last issue when Knip messed up and printed it on the At-a-glance page (oops!), but it’s even better when we can see the full glory of those buttoned lapels!
From the Mother/Daughter feature, I think this (woven) blouse could be really versatile. I also like that the elastic cuffs on the blouses are made with 6cm wide elastic, rather than purchased ribbing, which is often quite hard to find in matching colours. The two pairs of jeans here are also really nice, but my favourite pair is shown better below…
…and here you can see their really cool front seamed pockets! These are for non-stretch denim, which I’ve got in my stash, too. Knip have also provided step-by-step photos on how to do those front pockets, but they’re only available on their website, not in the magazine (so save them in case they disappear when you go to make these months from now!)
So all in all, a pretty good issue for those of us in the regular size range, and an excellent issue for those of you in the Plus size range!
I’m sewing faster than I can actually document with my March Mini Wardrobe but I’m also making great progress on my Manequim silk blouse! Just the edge finishing yet to go, so you’ll likely get to see this next week, too!
