I actually made this jumper back in January, just after I sewed The Kiss dress! Despite wearing it several times each week through the colder weather, I just could not muster the enthusiasm to do a photoshoot. Rather than not post about it at all, I’ve taken photos on my dressform Susan instead.
I made this because I really needed more long sleeve jumpers that fit, and I wear my grey LB Pullover a lot over teeshirts through the colder months. That one was size 16, and since it still fits nicely, I’ve just done the same here rather than bother to print it off again.
So I pulled out my copy of the Paper Theory LB Pullover again, this time pairing it with 100% cotton waffle jersey in “Riverside blue” from Raystitch. I’d bought 1.5m at £10/m, and it’s really beautiful quality. Thick like a sweatshirting and really lovely to wear.
I’d actually used a portion of this fabric before in my Gemma sweatshirt alongside the mauve, but the vast majority of the yardage was leftover for its own project.
As an exercise, I documented how much I needed to rest while sewing this in a day:
- Pinned pattern pieces to fabric
- Lie down
- Cut out pieces
- Lie down
- Sewed shoulder seams & attached wide collar
- Lie down
- Sewed sleeves to body & side seams
- Lie down
- Hems & attach label
Old me could’ve made this in 30min, tops, but now it takes me all day since I can’t stand up (pinning & cutting) or sit unsupported (sewing) for very long due to Long Covid.
Little did I know that, after sewing this, my sewing mojo left me for a few months where I didn’t really sew anything at all. But as you’ve seen, it’s back now and I’ve got lots to share coming up over the next few weeks!
