Happy birthday indeed!

Yesterday was my 28th birthday and I received quite possibly the best birthday gift possible, especially since I thought it would be impossible to deliver in time…

Yes, our new floating home is now in her new home, delivered actually on my birthday itself by my boyfriend and our hired crew. We’ve got a bunch of hard work to do this week before we can move in at the weekend, but it means I’ll be able to eventually have a dedicated sewing room for all things Fehrtrade and have a wide choice of cutting tables (since it used to be a hotel, we’ve got a breakfast room crammed full of tables and chairs!).

But the fun did not stop there – my friend Pip (her of the leather bag fame) picked up these two vintage sewing books for me at an antique book stall!

The funny thing is, she picked them up for a gag gift but I’m loving looking through them! The one on the left is from 1950 and has a bunch of couture finishing techniques that were apparently commonplace for home sewers back then (I feel so inadequate!). The other is from 1980 and has the funniest 70s patterns at the back to make your very own kaftans and pussy-bow blouses! So, with the addition of April’s KnipMode that was very kindly grabbed for me in Holland and sailed back over the North Sea, I’ve got plenty of reading material! Now if only I could grab some free time…
