I don’t know about you, but it’s a drizzly, dreary day in London today (hello there, stereotypes!) and I’m going to use this latest issue of Manequim magazine to transport me down to the Brazilian sunshine. Are you with me??
These two patterns are the only Plus-sized offerings this month, but they’re great! Here we’ve got basic trousers (showing the current print trend) in a bunch of sizes plus a fantastic blouse with an offset bow at the neckline.
I really like this nice silk blouse with surplice front on the right (and a dress with a “mullet” hem I’m not into!), though I kinda made something similar years ago that I don’t wear much…
I really like how they used mesh fabric on this dolman sleeved top with that yoke running across the entire front! Usually I’m used to only seeing mesh on the upper chest, not down the sleeves as well. I’d never wear this long skirt but I like the idea of the side buckle harnessing the fullness of the godet underneath.
I love this maxidress!! It’s got those great pleated crisscrossing at the front, but the back is equally interesting with the geometric shapes back there!
Here’s another interesting maxidress, this time with a gathered neckline and colourblocking throughout.
Now here we have a pretty camisole with interesting centre inset detail and different side seams. This one looks really cool in the cutting layout, and if I had to pick something from this issue, this would probably be the one I’d most likely make.
And that’s all my picks from this issue! If we mentally jet from Rio up to Paris for a second, I just wanted to report that I’ve got nothing much sewing-wise to report on from our weekend trip. We were staying in the 12th which made it awkward to get to the sewing shops in Montmartre (and I didn’t really need anything anyway) so we ate and shopped the Rue de Rivoli instead. Luckily for me, Etam Lingerie don’t have stores in London. And based on my sample, fluorescent orange/red is a big trend for spring, whether used as accents on shoes, tights, tops, or all-over colour in bras.
