Black linen Bob trousers & a slate blue Versatili-Tee

I'm still not sure whether I actually like this design of trousers or not, but my previous StyleArc Bobs are one of like three non-legging bottoms that still fit and aren't uncomfortable, so making another pair was a necessity sew. My waist is 20cm larger due to being mostly stuck in bed for the past 8 months, but I hope to not be like this indefinitely. As a result, I don't want to sew much for this body. I'm kinda thinking of this as a "loaner body" while my real body is in the shop getting fixed, so I'm basically sewing the bare minimum that I need, unless it's something that will also fit my real body later (like teeshirts and the cropped Hamilton jacket I'm working on).

The alterations here were the same as my previous brown linen pair – I lengthened the legs (a ton) and removed a 4cm wedge from the CF rise. Because this pattern is so oversized, I didn’t have to trace out a new size or re-do any alterations, which made this a great, fast sew.

I used some black linen in my stash but to be honest, I couldn’t recall where I’d bought it. But thankfully Previous Melissa left a slip of paper inside noting that it was bought in person at Truro Fabrics in March 2020, the weekend before lockdown. I’d bought 2.5m for a Zadie jumpsuit, but surprisingly this took nearly the same amount of fabric despite it just being trousers!

The only other change I’d made was to use my preferred 2cm elastic width instead of the much wider elastic called for. I really hate how wide elastic folds and bunches up during wear so I subsitute in my preferred width in nearly every pattern.

I also love the pockets on these – so deep that nothing falls out…

The shirt seen here is also one you’ve not seen before. I actually made it last summer but it remained unblogged as I was waiting to put heat set vinyl on it and then never did… I kinda like it plain now so it’s been incorporated into my wardrobe.

It’s our Versatili-Tee pattern, but shortened slightly to fit into the fabric. I used 1m of Eclipse blue cotton jersey from Textile Express which was a bargainous £7.50.

I kinda like that the slightly shorter length pairs nicely with the extreme volume of the trousers!
